About Us
All of Our candles are Hand Poured and Highly Scented; Linda makes each one!!
This makes each candle very special and uniquely different from most candles being sold in the other shops, those other candles were mass-produced, using automated machinery. There is no personal touch to them.
Linda has tested candles from each batch she produces to insure the best quality and she has come up with the perfect formula, to get the most fragrance into each candle, just the right size wick, and only the best pre-blended wax, and highest grade fragrance oils. She takes pride in her product, and stands behind her workmanship.
Our candles are guaranteed to burn even all the way down, have the same great smell all the way through, and produce little to no smoke as long as the wick is keep trimmed to within a ¼ inch. This attention to detail and quality along with a great price has made Linda’s Candles a hit with all candle lovers that have tried them. This is what has given us the success that we have enjoyed to date. This is what will keep us growing in the future.
..............................................................History...............................................................
In June of 2002 Linda started making candles as a hobby, she has always loved doing crafts, and she set out to make a great candle that she could sell and give to her friends at work. Linda worked as a substitute teacher and later as a full time teacher’s aid in the Edna School District. She started out in our kitchen using the stove to melt wax and our kitchen table as a workbench. In just a few months she had completely taken over the kitchen with candles, we couldn’t get to the stove to cook or the table to eat.
In October 2002 we closed off ½ of our double car garage to use as her workshop, her business was growing, she now had a couple of retail shops she was wholesaling her candles to and had completed several fundraisers for church groups. It had gotten to the point where Linda was working for the school all day and staying up half the night making candles and filling orders. By the end of 2002 she was making a lot more money from her candle sales than from her salary in the school system.
Linda started full time in her candle business shortly after the New Year started it was around the end of January or beginning of February 2003. The school she had worked at gave her their annual fundraiser, and it was a success. The school with approx. 300 students had sold almost 2,000 candles, which gave the school close to $10,000. for them to spend on projects they planed for the year. It was also the smoothest fundraiser they had done with zero complaints from parents, and school personnel, Linda had made everything simple for everyone, she sorted the orders by classroom for easy hand outs to the students, the kids had sold a high quality product instead of some of the junk that they use to sell. The same school has given their fundraiser to Linda every year since.
Through out this time we had sold Linda’s candles at craft shows in different areas, picked up a few more retail shops that we are wholesaling candles to, and had started going into the our local mall in Victoria with craft shows a couple of time a year. From our success with sells at the mall with the craft shows, we decided that we would try working the mall on our own. After several attempts to get into the mall on a part time deal, weekends were what we wanted, the mall agreed to let us do it.
In July of 2004 we closed in the other side of the garage for additional workspace for the candles.
In October 2004 we opened a full time cart in the Victoria Mall, business has grown by leaps and bounds since then, sales doubled in 2004. During November and December we opened two additional carts one with Inspirational items and one with Fashion items on it. The Fashion cart did so well we kept two full time carts at the Victoria Mall, one with candles and the other with fashion items.
In 2005 sales more than tripled, we had to purchase a Morgan Building to serve as a warehouse. Linda had more and more schools and organizations wanting to use her candles in fundraisers, she did over 15 separate fundraisers in 2005.
2006 started out with a bang, we had over 37 fundraisers for the year; we opened a cart at First Colony in March 2006. Sells were not what we expected there so we closed it within 3 months.
2007 fundraisers were still increasing we had over 45 for the year and our products are now being sold at over 40 different retail locations through out Texas and as far away a Georgia, and Oklahoma. We also moved out of the mall so that we could produce our products and sell them from the same place. This also allowed us to concentrate more on our wholesale accounts and fundraisers. We anticipated a drop in our walk in business because of our move, to our surprise that never happened, we still have a lot of visitors to our gift shop.
We are very grateful to all of of our loyal customers for their years of continued support and we look forward to many more years of growth thanks to the many people that give such high praise for our products.
